Mamukko Launches Limited Edition Astrid Life Raft Bags

Mamukko, Ireland's leading designer of upcycled sailcloth leather bags has launched their exclusive limited edition Astrid Tallship life raft range of bags to mark the one year anniversary of the historic tall ship which ran aground near Oysterhaven on July 24th 2013. A large-scale operation by the RNLI and the coastguard ensured that all 30 people on board were brought to safety.

Mamukko, which was founded by Hungarian bothers Levente and Attila Magyar and is based in Kinsale, salvaged the sails and created a sell out range of bags earlier this year. The new Astrid life raft range will carry even greater exclusivity with just 65 bags of various designs and sizes available. After a long and arduous process to restore the life raft materials, the brothers have designed and hand produced 25 deluxe edition duffle bags, 10 exclusive messenger bags, 10 gear bags and 20 belt bags. All products have leather components, carry the original Astrid logo as well as a serial number to ensure that each bag is completely unique. Speaking of the launch of the limited edition Astrid life raft bags, Attila Magyar, Managing Director, Mamukko said, "We are delighted to launch our brand new range of Astrid life raft bags which will in some way carry on the legacy of the beautiful tall ship. Upcycling to such a high level is an art in itself and combining this with our leather craft traditions which stretches back four generations ensures that buyers are investing in a one off piece from our Kinsale workshop which has been made to last. These bags carry with them the story of the Astrid which the ship's owners have fully approved. We have already been getting interest from buyers in Holland and Germany where the Astrid originated so this range will hopefully also be a sell out for Mamukko". Also speaking of the launch and the mission of Mamukko, Levente Magyar, Creative Director, Mamukko said, "Upcycling is relatively new in Ireland but is something that is really being embraced by people of all ages who appreciate quality and unique one of a kind designs. We only ever upcycle high quality materials that are made to last and these bags are proof of this. We don't follow trends, we set them. All Mamukko bags carry a story and these Astrid bags combine the rich past of the beautiful tall ship with new fabrics which will be enjoyed for decades by our customers." www.mamukko.ie
