Ghostly Cork Tales to Set the Halloween Mood at Hanleys and Jam Cafe

Hanleys of Cork and Jam Cafe are gearing up for another haunting Halloween with the official opening of their 2012 Halloween shop. The specially designed 3000sq ft Halloween experience features everything from frightful costumes to scary lights, skeletons, headstones, and even a fridge full of pre packed body parts to take home and enjoy! Hanleys and Jam will play host to Halloween storytelling evenings on 24th, 25th and 26th October from 5.30-7pm where families can partake in ghostly tales of Cork by in-house witch Gertrude Goosebuster, followed by a pumpkin lit walk to Jam café for Halloween tea and cake to keep the ghosts of hunger at bay as well as magic, games and goodie bags. Jam Café have also unveiled their special Halloween Barmbracks with in-baked exclusive prizes including a specially designed ring by Kenmare designer Paul Kelly worth over €500, vouchers to the value of more than €1,000 from Hanleys and a weekend break in the Brook Lane Hotel, Kenmare. Proceeds from these special Halloween barmbracks which will be on sale from Jam café only in Hanleys for €2.90 throughout October will go towards the children’s ward at CUH. Speaking of the Halloween shop, Keith Hanley says, this year our Halloween shop is more extensive than ever with specially designed displays and over 2000 Halloween products to fright and delight our customers. We are really looking forward to our storytelling evenings which will give children and parents the chance to get in to the Halloween spirit as well as treating them to seasonal Halloween treats and games in Jam café. Proceeds from ticket sales will also go to the Children’s Ward in CUH.” Also speaking of the special Halloween barmbrack, James Mulchrone, Jam Café said, “The humble barmbrack is still one of the main Halloween treats that spring to mind around this time of year and is a uniquely Irish tradition. We are giving the old symbols found in the barmbrack a new twist so there will be no such thing as bad luck from a piece of cloth with our bracks. Instead, we will make more than 1,000 barmbracks, 200 of which will contain prizes and donate €1 from each brack to a great cause, making everyone a winner! Tickets for the storytelling evenings are priced at €10 per child with proceeds going towards the children’s ward in Cork University Hospital. Tickets can be booked by logging on to http://hanleyshalloweenparties.eventbrite.ie/ Parents are encouraged to book a place ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
