Spice O Life, a West Cork food company has signed a deal worth more than E350,000 to supply Dunnes Stores in Ireland with its Insanely Good range of fresh perishable sauces. The Dunmanway based company which is owned by West Cork natives Tom Kearney and Denis O’Driscoll will stock their range of five Insanely Good sauces including (creamy pepper, bombay curry, creamy carbonara, tikka masala and clasic pasta sauce) to 100 Dunnes outlets from October. The deal will also create 2 new jobs to add to the team of 20 already employed at the company's Dunmanway base in West Cork. Kearney and O’Driscoll who have years of combined experience in food science and food business founded Spice O’Life in 2002. The company, which employs 20 people has continued to grow year on year. Spice O'Life also produce a range of spices and marinades for food manufacturing and catering companies. Insanely Good sauces which are preservative and gluten free are the first of their kind to the Irish market and will be stocked in the refrigerated meats section of the supermarket. Speaking at the announcement, Tom Kearney, Director, Spice O’Life said the deal marked a new departure for the West Cork food firm. “We have worked incredibly hard to produce a really high quality range of fresh sauces over the past 2 years so we are thrilled to now be at the point of rolling out our Insanely Good brand to Dunnes stores in Ireland. The idea of setting up Spice O’Life did not happen overnight. I worked for many years in the US for a high end spice blending company and have travelled the historical spice route of South East Asia to build on my knowledge of spices while Denis has a strong background in the pharmaceutical and food industries so our knowledge is as finely blended as the spices we source from around the world!” Also speaking of the deal, Spice O’Life Director Denis O’Driscoll said, “We are proud to say that our range of sauces are all natural and made locally. Many ready-made sauces are made abroad, so when we set out to produce Insanely Good we were adamant that we wanted to produce something that was good for you while supporting the local economy. We are delighted with this business opportunity and look forward to a successful collaboration with Dunnes. We are already looking at extending our range of sauces with new flavours coming on line over the coming months.”
