Rural Retailers Go Global with Local Gift Cards

DMpr CorkLocal retailers throughout Ireland can celebrate the dawn of a new era for their business thanks to a new Irish company, Local Gift Cards which has been launched by Clonakilty based Maria Carolan. Givealocalgiftcard.ie provides retailers and service providers with the opportunity to offer gift cards to customers from all over the world. The service has already been rolled out to towns throughout west Cork with this due to expand rapidly in the coming months. Local Gift Cards is the brainchild of Carolan who spotted an opportunity for a business when she was shopping online for friends and family in Dublin and found it difficult to order and send a voucher for their favourite shop or restaurant. The aim of givealocalgiftcard.ie is to allow retailers and service providers from towns all over Ireland to offer their gift cards online to customers all over the world. According to recent findings, only 23% of local retailers are engaging with e-commerce to grow their business and that more than 70% of online purchases made in Ireland are made to overseas businesses.  Givealocalgiftcard.ie provides a cost effective and hassle free solution to getting retailers and service providers online and capturing a share of this growing market. Speaking at the launch of Local Gift Cards, Maria Carolan said, "When I began researching the business I was surprised to see that nothing like this existed. For every birthday and celebration in our family my sister in the States always faced the same problem - what to buy and how to send it, and it was often the case that shipping would cost more than the gift. This is a problem faced by so many people at home and abroad but with www.givealocalgiftcard.ie this problem is solved. Users simply log on, choose their preferred merchant, the amount for the gift card and check out. Retailers also have the option of setting the service up through their Facebook pages which also makes it easier for them to promote the service. The gift card can then either be emailed or posted to the recipient, it's as easy as that! With new retailers coming on board all the time the choice to support local has never been easier and I look forward to rolling it out to towns all over Ireland in the coming weeks and months."
